Chakra Energy Healing

Posted by on Tuesday, 6 March, 2012

By Paul Andrew Todd

Energy healing helps balance the seven main chakras. It is very common in today’s world with busy schedules, poor diets and lack of sleep to have our chakras unbalanced. I would venture to guess that most people do not even know what it feels like to have their chakras in balance. Energy healing will allow you to get back in touch with your body. Chakra energy healing will also help you feel balanced, whole and an over all sense of well being. There are several different ways to perform chakra healing, but we will only discuss one in this article. Make sure that the chakra energy healing technique feels right for you and you are comfortable with it.

The chakra energy healing process we will discuss today involves using gemstones. Typically the gemstone will have the same color as the chakra it is meant to balance. This technique can be done one chakra at a time or all seven chakras at once. This can be very helpful if you know you have a certain chakra out of balance and want to work on that one only.

First begin with a good cleansing of the chakras. Take a stone like black obsidian for the cleansing process. This stone is known to draw out the negative energy that can be lodged in your chakras. Place the stone in your writing hand and move it over the chakra to be cleansed in a counter clockwise motion. As you are doing this imagine in your minds eye the negative energies coming out and being absorbed into the stone. You should start at the root chakra and move up one by one. You may notice that certain chakras will need more cleansing then others. After you think the chakras are cleansed it is time to move on to placing the stones and the chakra energy healing. Assuming you are going to do the chakra energy healing with all seven chakras, start by placing the corresponding gemstone on that chakra. You should work from the root chakra up. It can be helpful to have someone help place the gemstones on you. Some examples of the stones I use for each corresponding chakra are as follows.

Chakra energy healing stones
Root = red tigers eye
Sacral = carnelian
Solar plex = citrine
Heart = jade
Throat = turquoise
Third eye = amethyst
Crown = quartz crystal

You can use a quartz crystal for all the chakras when performing chakra energy healing. If you do not feel comfortable with a certain gemstone, do not use it. There is usually a reason for this and it is best to trust your intuition. As each gemstone is placed on the corresponding chakra you want to feel the energy of the gemstone infusing your chakra with positive energy. In chakra energy healing it helps to picture the energy pure, clear and healthy. You also want to see the energy swirling into you in a clockwise direction. Take your time with this and do not move on to the next chakra till you feel the current chakra is healthy, strong and energized. As you move on, do not stop the energy flow from the previous chakra, allow it to continue energizing that chakra. After the crown chakra is completed you want to lay there and picture the energy from all the gemstones recharging your chakras till you feel it is complete.

Chakra energy healing can be done with the help another person if desired. It is best to have a person you trust and feel a strong connection with. This is so there is not any negative energies introduced while performing the chakra energy healing.

When you have completed the chakra energy healing you should ground yourself. Sit still for several minutes and adjust once again to your surroundings. Have a glass of water and allow the chakra energy to stabilize. This chakra energy healing technique can be done daily if you feel you need it. As you practice this you will notice that your vitality is increasing and you have a good overall sense of well being.

What is Reiki?

Posted by on Saturday, 15 October, 2011

The Wonder of ReikiReiki

Reiki is a Japanese word for describing Universal life force energy. Reiki is also known as Chi and Prana. This is the same energy which makes the plants grow, the tides flow, and the wind blow. In fact it is everywhere and in everything in the Universe.

Many stories abound about its re-discovery have been handed down orally through the ages, and as with any good story various changes creep in depending on the ear that hears it! The common accepted facts are that it was rediscovered by Dr Mikao Usui towards the end of the 19th century, during a deep state of meditation. During this meditation he was able to see various symbols and instinctively understood ways to harness this universal energy to heal ones own body. After his life-transforming experience and discovery of universal healing energy he put his new found skills to good use during the violent earthquake in Japan (1923) and reportedly helped many people back to health.

Initially Dr Usui simply healed people in individual sessions through the amazing power of reiki but eventually it was taught to students. This has resulted in Reiki being widely available in every part of the world today. However, it is imperative that you pick a qualified and adept teacher if you wish to learn or receive Reiki.

Reiki works on 4 levels to support holistic healing in the individual:

Physical – It alleviates pain, detoxifies the body, improves symptoms and accelerates the body’s natural healing power. After learning Reiki many students start to move into a more harmonious and balanced lifestyle. The body’s natural communication mechanism starts to work again and one is more able to simply “know” what is good and what to avoid. On a personal note I stopped drinking coffee immediately after learning Reiki and have not drunk coffee since.

Mental – Reiki affects our deepest thoughts and conditioned ways of thinking, and leads to an open mind. Negative traits and patterns are reduced and a feeling of inner calm results.

Emotional – Reiki flows deep into the subconscious mind and allows one to see the thought patterns that hold us back. Jealousy, anger, fear and other negative emotions start to be replaced by an unconditional love and understanding of life and its differences.

Spiritual – After Reiki many students become much more loving, compassionate, non judgmental and begin to understand that they are not separate in this universe, but part of a larger whole.

When we are in harmony with our thoughts and emotions, the body is also in harmony and we are at ease. All Dis-Ease is simply a moving away from this state of ease.

When this lack-of-ease happens the life force energy is disrupted and does not flow smoothly, thus leading to physical symptoms in the body.

How to learn Reiki – Reiki is easy to use and you do not need any special equipment, just a pair of hands on your body! You can do it for yourself or others and it allows you to re-balance yourself on all 4 levels and to come back into a state of harmony.

Reiki is given by gently laying your hands on the clothed body of a person. Within seconds, the energy can be felt. The effects vary depending on the individual but may include a feeling of intense heat, tingling, swirling, coldness and even emotional outbursts.

Certain hand positions are taught corresponding to the physical organs and emotional states. For example the liver area associates with anger (its interesting that we use the word livid to describe anger), the lungs with sadness, and the kidneys with fear or prejudice.

The chakras (energy centers of the body) are also balanced, as is the front and back torso, arms, legs and the head area.

When you are giving or receiving Reiki, the brain moves into alpha state, a state of deep relaxation. Both the giver and receiver connect with the energy and both benefit from the session. Reiki shows you the messages from your body and you start to see a new framework for language and ingrained behavior patterns.

Reiki truly is an amazing healing therapy and you sense the healing touch as soon as the Reiki hands are placed on the body.

Many believe that Reiki has its own intelligence and actually goes to the site of the problem in the body, regardless of where the hands are placed. I have seen numerous examples of this, one such example was when my hands were placed on the stomach area, and one of the legs of the client, where the problem exists, started to twitch.

Dr Usui realized through his experience that receiving the healing energy alone is not enough to make a person whole and complete. The physical symptom is merely the fruit of the tree and so to bring about lasting change one needs to look at the roots of the problem. These are usually deep conditioned, subconscious, emotional issues.

He adopted the Meiji Emperor’s principles for living life and incorporated them into Reiki therapy. There are 5 principles in total and all start with the words – ‘Just for Today’.

This was done because Dr Usui realized if you can do something for just one day and then repeat it each day, you are more likely to succeed than if he said you had to change at once for your whole life.

Reiki in effect has 2 legs – the physical side of Reiki, with the laying on of hands, and the 5 principles which are about how you live life.

The next article will go into detail about the principles of living life, and offer hints and tips on how you can incorporate this wisdom into daily living.

A Realistic Discussion On The Benefits Of Reiki By Patrick Dowling

Posted by on Wednesday, 21 September, 2011

For those who accept the concept, the benefits of Reiki are plentiful. Of course not everybody accepts that there any benefits of Reiki at all. Here we will discuss the concept of Reiki and how that does in fact lead to some tangible benefits of this healing art.

Reiki

The real concept behind Reiki lies in balance and equilibrium. On the physical level, there is no question that conventional medicine accepts the concept of equilibrium. We are always told to eat a balanced diet! We are told to balance our metabolism so that it is armed to fight infection and illness. Reiki simply takes the concept of equilibrium and applies it to the life energy which flows through our bodies.

According to those who engage in energy healing, the whole body operates on more than one level. There is of course the physical level which is the primary focus of conventional medicine. Reiki healers take that a step further and content that for true healing the energy level must be addressed as well as the physical level.

In other words, by only addressing the physical level, healers are missing out on an opportunity to accelerate and facilitate healing. Some people find this difficult to accept. I say we should use all of the tools at our disposal!

Ant complementary approaches such as Reiki are seeing an upsurge in popularity these days. You will find this art being practiced in doctors’ offices – alongside conventional medicine. Those who are skeptical should ask themselves why so many doctors are beginning to apply this modality if there is nothing to it.

The benefits of Reiki derive from the application of healing procedures which facilitate appropriate energy flow throughout the body. This energy is channeled through the Chakras, and the healer focuses on each of the seven Chakras – balancing and opening them to lead to optimal energy flow.

You see some wild claims thrown about which would lead you to believe that you don’t need anything except Reiki. These kinds of silly claims don’t help the cause of Reiki as they portray practitioners as weird and strange. However, putting that aside, some of the areas where there is clear evidence of the benefits of Reiki include:

Help with physical conditions such as hypertension
Management of chronic pain
Self-realization and self-confidence
Help with insomnia
Concentration, memory, and recall

These are just some of the areas where the benefits of Reiki are broadly acknowledged!

The Trivedi Effect – Healing vs Transformation

Posted by on Tuesday, 17 May, 2011

As Mahendra Trivedi, affectionately known as Guruji explains  in the video linked above, there is a huge difference between a healing and a transformation. With a healing comes a cure and restoration of health caused by one of any number of dis-eases. A transformation on the other hand makes more profound and permanent changes to the person transformed.

Guruji has proven scientifically in over 5000 authenticated and documented experiments that he has the distinct ability to make changes to any number of substances, plant life and more importantly…human life. With his “blessing” (as called by Guruji, it could also be called an imparting) Guruji is able to make changes on a molecular level. Whereas a healing may diminish or eliminate a symptom, the blessings received are more systemic and effect one’s entire being.

A transformation allows you to operate at your highest potential at your highest frequency. This resonance builds upon itself and enhances all of your own natural abilities.  Make sure you find time to learn more about Mahendra Trivedi and the blessings he imparts.

The Trivedi Foundation recently opened the Trivedi Center in New York City, located at 39 Lispenard Street, New York, NY, 10113

In fact if you’re available this weekend (May 20-22, 2011) and can make it to NYC, you can learn for yourself about the profound changes that go along with a transformational blessing. Click here for information about individual blessings in NYC. If you’re not available this weekend check out Guruji’s Calendar of Events.

There are also remote blessings available if you can’t make it to an in-person event. There’s also an online webinar on May 24, 2011. So do your research, learn about Guruji and his abilities and if you think it’s for you, make arrangements to receive a blessing, it will be a life changing event for sure.

Holistic Lifestyle – Self Healing

Posted by on Monday, 14 February, 2011

Reiki

Using self healing as an example for the purpose of this description, it’s my hope that you’ll be able to apply the concept and premises described to your own practice and life. It is offered only as reference to my own personal experiences and my own walk.

I recently had surgery to repair the last of three hernias (two inguinal and one umbilical). Two of them were repaired in a surgery in 2008 and the last of them was taken care of very recently.

Having undergone this procedure before, I felt prepared and there were no real surprises. Some of the pre-surgical conditions were radically different though.

Three years ago I was 50 pounds heavier than I am now, yet still fairly active and healthy. I was walking every day and even did a small leg of the AT (Appalachian Trail) out in the Berkshires through Bear Mountain state Park.

As of June 2010 (as some of you may know) I began a habit that has turned (returned actually) into a passion…running. At the time of the first surgeries I was walking around carrying 235-240 lbs.

Last year, through some half- hearted efforts and the flu, I whittled down to 225 lbs. My physical activity helped me to maintain that weight.

It was also around that time that I became certified in Reiki 1.
The benefits and changes that have been facilitated or potentiated in my life through Usui Reiki are both profound and exhilarating.

Through further study and the daily practices of Usui Reiki, Munay Ki Earthkeeper Wisdom and other healing modalities as well as yoga, I have come to realize the synergistic threads and energies that each shares.

Once any of us realizes that there are more “things” that bind us together than separate us, our ultimate responsibility becomes more clear, we’re graced with more passion and more energy to pursue “that” in our lives and therefore are able to bless more people, in more ways with the particular collection of gifts, talents and abilities that DO make us each unique.

It’s safe to say that the surgeries of three years ago took place on a body that didn’t have the “spiritual preparedness” that it does now.

When I prepare for healing either myself or others I first clear and set Sacred space. The intent of the healing is then set from within those sacred boundaries. I also prepared for this surgery by using essential oils to maximize the healing and shorten the recovery period. Contact me if you’d like more information about the oils.

Post surgically when applying self Reiki, I set intent upon retrieving an energetic representation of perfect health & healing for the area of injury or deeper to an example of perfect DNA, unblemished by scar, dis-ease or injury.

Through that intent I seek the sense of balance that lets me know that the intent has been received and implanted. Meditating on the healing in the following days allows the complete manifestation of  it to be revealed.

You can “choose” to be one who heals quickly. You can also impart that seed (energetically speaking) to those who you’re called to heal.

Your Journey to a Holistic Lifestyle

Posted by on Saturday, 1 January, 2011

Everyone should strive to live a more holistic lifestyle.

If you intend to live healthier in all aspects of your life, you should make sure your health includes every dimension of your being: your mind, your body, your spirit, and your environment. By following a holistic path to health, you can surely realize profound and apparent improvements in physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

Live a more harmonious lifestyle.

That is what holistic living is all about. A holistic lifestyle  is a solid building block leading to the fulfillment of a more satisfying and happier life. If you aim to live healthier, you should strive to live better. The path to a holistic lifestyle is comprised of the following factors.

The food you eat.

You certainly are what you eat. If you consume healthy and nutritious foods, there is no way that your body would accumulate all the unnecessary toxins and excess fats that make people obese. It is not advisable to consume more than what you need. Just make sure your diet is balanced and is comprising of foods and beverages that surely bring about the right vitamins and minerals that your body needs to function better everyday. Stay away from cholesterols and saturated fats.

Your home.

Of course, your home could be a key to a holistic lifestyle. The house should keep its function as your sanctuary: a place where you find relief and comfort after a long day of work. It should be cozy and comfortable so you could take necessary and sound sleep or rest in it. The home should always be able to protect you against all the unnecessary elements that bring about sickness and stress.

The way you think.

Mental health is crucial to a holistic lifestyle. It is not hard to maintain good mental health. Keeping a happy disposition in life could be a great help. Reduce or eliminate all the negativity in your life and for sure you would have a big improvement in the way you think.

Your level of wealth.

Let us face it. Money is an important possession because no one could be able to enjoy life without it. Manage your wealth very well so you would not incur stress when it comes to finances. Money matter is undoubtedly the top stressor these days. Do not spend way beyond your means to avoid any money problem in the future.

Personal relationships.

Have a healthy relationship with everyone in your family, circle of friends, and office environment. A harmonious social life could do a lot of wonders in your mental and emotional health. Keeping such relationships healthy is not hard if you would only keep it a point to be positive and pleasant to everyone.

The career you choose.

You have the power to decide what career path to take. Having a high ambition is not bad but it surely would lead to more stress. As much as possible, find and take a job or income source that would not make you incur too much stress, anxiety, and fatigue.

Physical Fitness as a Key to a Holistic Lifestyle

Posted by on Thursday, 23 December, 2010

A sound holistic lifestyle always starts with a healthy body. That is why physical fitness should be given utmost importance. Overall physical health is necessary to attain better emotional and mental health. However, to some people, it may not be easy to attain physical fitness and health. Thus, they find it harder to attain and maintain a holistic lifestyle.

Follow the following guidelines and attain the physical fitness you need and deserve.

1.    Consult with a fitness instructor from your gym. Before getting into any form of physical fitness plan, you should first ensure your safety. Present your medical records to the instructor so he could assess which activities you should avoid and which ones you should spend more time at. There might be certain physical limitations you should observe, depending on the state of your body and your medical history.

2.    Before getting into any physical fitness plan, also consider taking a good diet. Essential nutrients from food intake should be given utmost attention because doing so would greatly complement any physical program in the long run.

3.    Warm up before any exercise. Warming up is important because it conditions the body for a strenuous activity. It is like slowly taking up a challenging task at eventual stages. When you do so, you could easily avoid spasms and muscle injuries. Warm ups also help the joints secrete necessary substances needed during the entire duration of the activity.

4.    Have a focus program each day you go to the gym. For example, today, when you go to the gym, mainly do chest exercises. On the next gym day, work on the arm muscles; on the next, do the back muscles and so on. You could also spend a day doing cardiovascular workouts.

5.    Cardiovascular exercises should be done on a regular basis. During the days when your program does not require you to do any particular fitness exercise, do cardiovascular activities instead. You could spend longer time with the treadmill or you could allot an hour at the stationary bike. Such activities would not heavily involve main muscle groups as in weight lifting, but they would effectively improve blood circulation in the body.

6.    When lifting weights particularly for upper body muscles, observe proper posture and form. Doing so would ensure that the activity would effectively target the intended specific muscles. Proper posture could help assure physical safety. When lifting weights for example, a bad posture can lead to spinal injuries.

7.    Regulate breathing while doing the physical fitness program. Inhale oxygen when you are doing the less stressful part of the exercise task, then, exhale as you put more pressure into your muscles. When your oxygen intake and exhalation is regulated, you would avoid spasms because oxygen supply to the muscles would be assured.

8.    Do not forget to stretch after every exercise task. Stretching improves flexibility of muscle groups and facilitates for a quick muscle relaxation activity. Stretching is also the much-needed break your muscles need after being pressured and challenged by the workout tasks.

10.    Above all, observe overall discipline. Force yourself to regularly and religiously do your physical fitness program. Be on the guard when it comes to food intake.

You see, physical fitness is never achieved overnight. You have to exert a lot of effort and ensure determination if you are aiming to get an overall physical soundness. When you succeed in doing so, you could find it easier to attain a holistic lifestyle.
